Cupcakes? Yes Please!
These note cards give us the munchies! They were delivered to the office today and we were really excited to see that there is a cupcake recipe on the back cover of each card- how scrumptious!! In fact, here is the recipe for the Fresh Fruit Cupcakes (image above):
2 Eggs
60 g sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
90g all purpose flour
180ml double cream
250g fresh summer berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, red currants)
icing sugar for dusting
Preheat the oven to 180 celsius
Line cupcake pan with paper cases
Put eggs and sugar in a large bowl and whisk for 10 minutes until thick and pale.
Add vanilla extract
Sift flour into a separate bowl twice, then sift into the egg mixture and fold in.
Spoon mixture into paper cases and bake for 12 minutes until risen and golden and skewer inserted in centre comes out clean.
Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
Whip the cream until it stands in peaks, then swirl over the cakes. Top with fresh berries, dust with icing sugar and serve immediately

Coco Before Chanel
We were lucky to see Audrey Tautou's new film Coco Before Chanel at the weekend. Directed by Anne Fontaine, it is a beautiful production, but we left the cinema hungry for more biographical detail. There were so many unanswered questions, so I'm off to buy a Coco Chanel biography at my local book store...

Kuniyoshi Exhibition at the Royal Academy
Popped into the the Kuniyoshi (1797-1861) exhibition at the weekend and it was absolutely packed. Intend to go back on a week day when it's a bit quieter. We particularly loved the landscape prints and the Kabuki portraits...

Helen Musselwhite Paper Sculptures
I have just discovered Helen Musselwhite's work via Elphick's website (see blogs I follow) and I am blown away by the beautifully crafted paper pieces she produces. I can't find out a lot about Helen apart from the fact that she works from her studio in the North West of England. Here is her website:
Columbia Road Flower Market
Yesterday we wandered over to Columbia Road Flower Market where we were met with a riot of colour and the magical scent of fresh blooms. We popped into some of our favourite stores including Sharon Elphick's beautiful and welcoming gallery space Elphick's. We love her floral photo montages- see below.
